Charlie Norwood: GOP Hero

By John Konop

Congressman Charlie Norwood (R-GA) was famous for standing up against both parties with his stance on trade and immigration. While many in Congress sold their souls to the lobbyist money changers in Washington, Norwood steadfastly refused.

Representative Norwood wrote:

In spite of these glaringly failed trade policies costing 3 million American manufacturing jobs, now the precise same special interest lobbyists are demanding we pass CAFTA, "to open markets to American goods."

Norwood Represented Americans, Not Just Republicans

Charlie saw his job in Congress as representing middle class Americans regardless of which party they supported. Norwood said:

It is time middle-class Americans started fighting at the polls to take back their country from the global elitists who have thus far successfully pitted the working classes of WTO member nations against each other.... If we don't start electing House and Senate members who will enact trade policies for the benefit of the American people instead of the traders, we're not going to have an economy left to trade with.

Norwood Should Be Replaced By A Like-Minded Candidate

God Bless Charlie Norwood and his family for all he did for Georgia and America. I hope his voice will be replaced by someone who reflects his bipartisan vision, someone that will continue his fight for trade and immigration policies that support working Americans.

I hope both the GOP and the Democrats offer us candidates similar to Norwood, such as Democrats Jim Marshal and John Barrow or Republicans like Ron Paul and Walter Jones. Our country needs more patriots like Charlie Norwood, leaders who put their country first.
